| How is the score so low? How is it not in the 9's? Like legit, we all think the anime is amazing. We all think it's better than Demon slayer yet the score is lower? This show is infinitely + 2 times better than Demon Slayer. Why is the score so low? |

| Careful when speaking badly of Demon Slayer, Aincrad won't be happy. For a new anime, it is quite high as it is right now so I'm not worried. Though, I'd always want a higher score for it regardless if it is satisfactory. |

| Shounen anime in general is probably about the most consumed and bandwagoned genre and doesn't quite require you to be mature to appreciate it to its fullest the same way more serious genres like seinen does. I hope this doesn't sound like "you need 200 IQ to appreciate seinen" but it does have some truth to it when you think about it. Both genres have their own target demographic by age. Also shounen fans are the kind of people whose opinion get easily affected by others' opinions, therefore perpetuating their "overrating" when it comes to MAL scores within the shounen genre, putting works in lower score, even when they convey deeper messages than shounen ever will. Also some people only want to see action, which again doesn't help. As such, more complex messages/emotions Vinland Saga might convey will fly above some people's head when they only started watching to see vikings fight, and nothing else. Tldr: People have their own opinions about things, and there are also people who don't quite possess the ability to rate something without others' opinion clouding their judgement. However this phenomenon isn't bound to happen with seinen series as it does with shounen ones. |

| I'm sorry but i still cannot believe that KNY is in the top 20 highest rated anime OF ALL TIME. its ridiculous! i'm not comparing it to VS or anything because they are completely different shows with different genres and appeals but come on , not saying KNY is bad or anything but to me it was a 7 at best and a 5 at worse. it was immensely overrated and no one would care about it if it wasn't done by ufotable. kinda went on a tangent there lol take that with a grain of salt since it's only my opinion  |

| It's an amazing score considering it's not a sequel (MAL's formula doesn't account for sequel bias). And a Seinen to boot. It's fine where it's at and will hopefully age well here.. Let's appreciate the nice things we have people |

| There are people with opinions, then there are people who can't think objectively with "opinions". That's how shounen scores get inflated, and seinen ones don't. It's not atom science, and as far as I know there's no way to filter out such scores for series on the site. Even if there was, as far I'm concerned the score of something won't alter my ability to enjoy the work itself for what it is in any way whatsoever. Plus shounen is meant for consumption for underage males, and some people above the age demographic who get stuck on the genre along the way, who are arguably the core consumers of Japanese animation, and its merch, so it's no surprise more serious genres are not as popular, nor that there are more and more shounen/ecchi/harem etc. airing opposed to drama and seinen. Is it a shame some great works are pushed down in score by NPCs because it arguably indicates they are lower in quality just because they can't appreciate for what the work is meant to convey? Yes. Is there anything we could do about it? Realistically speaking, not really. Just take it with a grain of salt whenever you see score on a shounen because it's gonna be higher than what it deserves, and seinen will have lower than what it deserves, if we're going to try to judge the genres objectively. Keep in mind anime in the said genres still can be either weak or strong within their own genres. PS: This thread got a bit uncivilized so I wouldn't be surprised if it was locked, lol |

| Can anyone tell me what was the purpose of keeping thorfinn as MC .. I waited till 24 to find out and now I think askeladd is the protagonist of this anime series.. thorfinn was even worse than a side character .. with.. I gave it 9 becuz of askeladd and prince .. when I think of thorfinn I feel like giving it 1 or below if possible.. what a shitty character to begin with .. irritating from the start |
